The most common causes of this error are as follows:
• The file is open in Single User mode on another computer.
• The file is in a network folder that is read-only.

and the host computer still sees the
person signed on.

If the corporate file is open in Single User mode on a different computer
1. Shut down QuickBooks Desktop on all of your machines.
2. On the Host
computer, open the company file.
3. Select Switch to Multi-user-mode
from the File menu.
4. Reboot all workstations if the problem persists.
If the
company file on the Host computer is open in Single User mode.
1. Select Close company
from the File menu.
2. Open the company file again. From the File menu, choose Open or
Restore Company.
3. Click Next after
selecting Open a company file.
4. Go to your company's file and choose it.
5. Choose Open file in
multi-user mode, and then click Open.

If your corporate file is in a network folder that is read-only,
1. Go to the computer where your company's file is stored.
2. Go to the location where your company file is saved and open
it.
3. Select Properties
from the context menu when you right-click the folder.
4. Select the Security option.
5. Click Edit on the

6. Select Allow for
Full Control from the drop-down menu.
7. Click Apply and
then OK.
